The New Roots Team is excited to announce the start of the 2023 Fresh Stop Markets Season. We welcome back our loyal shareholders, and extend a warm welcome to all the new members of our community. This year promises to be another great year of community and delicious vegetables!
To those who are new to New Roots, we are a nonprofit organization that provides seasonal, local, organic vegetables to our shareholders on a biweekly basis. Our program is unique because we use a sliding pay scale to help make fresh produce more accessible to everyone in the community, regardless of their income level. Each bag contains 8-10 seasonal items and the price ranges from $6 with SNAP/EBT, then to $12, $25, and $40 with debit/credit.
As a nonprofit organization, New Roots is committed to addressing food insecurity and promoting health equity in our community. Our 8 different Fresh Stop Market locations, that run on hard-work and faithful volunteers, help us reach multiple communities throughout our city. We are able to make fresh food more accessible to those who do not have regular access to its vital nutrients.
By joining our mission you not only gain access to delicious, seasonal produce, but you help support local farmers and reduce your environmental impact. All the produce we source is grown using organic and sustainable methods, which means you can feel good about the food you’re eating and its impact on our environment and surrounding communities.
We are also dedicated to building community and creating a welcoming space for everyone at our Fresh Stop Markets. Our shareholders come from all walks of life, and we strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
